Elderly are susceptible to illness and their body gives in physically and emotionally. It is but essential to provide them with a caring and stress free environment. They also experience behavioral changes, thus, it is necessary to promote their physical, emotional and mental well being. If you are caring for your parent or an elder family member, you must be able to cope up with their mood changes: a challenge that most caregivers need to face. We must remember that all of us will be aging as well, so we might as well let them age with grace, just as how much we wanted to when we grow older. In some countries, it would be normal to see families living together, therefore making the task of care giving the responsibility of family members. However, it has become customary in America to entrust their aging loved ones to long term care facilities or nursing homes. Whichever the case maybe, we must still make them feel that they are still a part of the family. Frequent visits will decrease their depression and may actually increase life expectancy.
